Because, after all, it IS all about the FOOD!

 

 It became apparent to me some time ago, before I even dreamed of this project, that the food we eat has EVERYTHING to do with – well…just about everything.

First and foremost, food sustains life – all life. Without it we die. Food is involved in every memorable event. Every culture has their own tradition around food, some that have been sustaining healthy lifestyles for thousands of years.

Then along comes our Western Diet and all of its many variations –  Adkins, Paleo, Ketogenic…
We were led to believe that eating this way promoted healthy weight loss. Over and over, it’s proven wrong and people keep dying of obesity related chronic disease. The thing is, the industries promoting animal products, junk food, and pharmaceuticals are out to create customers, not promote health.

As we saw in our film at September’s Dinner and A Movie at Orchid GourmetPlantPure Nation, when people living in cultures based in plant-based eating, adopt a Western diet by either moving to an area where it is prevalent, or it has been thrust upon them, they end up having the same issues related to excess dietary fat as their Western counterparts; diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, a lifetime of medications for any number of chronic issues…I’m not even going to get into the harm our western diet is causing this planet!

I could go on, but I know you get the point, because you keep showing up!
Yes. More and more, people are noticing what they have been led to believe are inevitable facts of aging, are completely preventable. We can be FREE FROM DISEASE! FREE FROM MEDICATIONS! FREE TO ENJOY A HEALTHY VIBRANT LIFE!

All you have to do is remember it’s within your control, and you do have a choice. When you accept 100% responsibility for your health and adopt a Whole Food Plant Based lifestyle, you are saying Yes to LIFE. Everything changes for the better. 

But, you won’t know that until you do it. And you probably haven’t done it because you’re not sure what to do. Right?

From 5 years of personal experience, I can easily say that eating WFPB is the simplest, most delicious way to eat. You will never again have to think, “What can I eat?” That’s exactly how and why I came up with the concept for Collaborative Wellness LLC, so that Health Advocates like me and Nancy and now Chef Jesse, could come together to provide the education, resources, services and programs you need to create the healthy, vibrant life you truly desire. And since it’s all about the food, you better believe it’s going to be FUN.

There Is No Secret, But There is a Key to Better Health and Ideal Weight

What if I told you that you could eat all of your favorite foods as often as you want and as much as you want, and be as healthy and happy as you want, without dieting or special exercise?

Would you believe me if I then told you that you would not have to rely on your willpower and you would never feel deprived?

What and how we eat is the key to nutritional success. Our favorite foods are the foods your highly sophisticated and sensitive body were designed to consume for optimal energy and weight.

We have been brainwashed to believe that “junk foods” are where we get our nutrition. Junk foods as basically anything that has been processed and refined, including animal proteins and dairy in all forms, sugar, and fats.

What does that leave me to eat (you may be asking)?

It leaves our Natural Diet. Fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and grains. From these, your body receives all the nutrition it requires to thrive – including protein!

Our problem now; the reason many of us are overweight and possibly medicated to relieve symptoms of excess – high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and prediabetes, auto-immune diseases, et al -is simply that we are not consuming enough of the “right foods” and too much of the “wrong foods”.

Over-eating the wrong foods, causes physical effects of tiredness and lethargy, indigestion and heartburn, lack of fitness, obesity, heart disease, and all sorts of other life-threatening illnesses. The mental side-effects are illusions of pleasure, guilt, helplessness, lack of self-esteem and sex-drive, slavery and misery.

Eating is one of  life’s great pleasures when we eat natural, unprocessed foods that are easy to digest, and help your body to work more efficiently. Our bodies processes are meant to run on high-water content, high fiber, naturally sweet and colorful foods.

99.99% of all creatures on Earth eat their favorite foods, all they want and are not overweight and under-energized. It’s because they have the key that unlocks the secret that you now have access to. Animals know instinctively what they should and shouldn’t eat. Once upon a time, we did too. Unfortunately our intellect has taught us to think differently, and we have overridden the wisdom of our instincts.

The mere fact that we have to think so much about what we should and shouldn’t eat has caused the confusion that leads to symptoms and illnesses that take us further away from instinct every time you put “the wrong foods” in your mouth.

The first key, therefore is…

Intuition is the sensor that guides us to know what to eat and what not to eat.

Developing our intuition is easy. All you have to do is stop thinking and start noticing. What I mean is, develop your intuition through your senses.

Nature has provided us with a most effective protection and sensor; our immune system, which is intimately connected with our intuition and receives its input through our senses. Drugs and the “wrong foods” destroy this connection. When we override intuition with “intellect”, we are actually going against our nature and putting evolution in reverse.

We all have access to this vital system and the simplest way to strengthen it is to start noticing how input you receive through any of your senses makes you feel. Noticing the sensations evoked by images and smells are your first line of defense. This can be tricky, because our senses have been dulled by imagery that makes what’s not good seem appealing. Smells are even trickier. The actual smell of meat (dead, rotting flesh) has been masked by the fragrances of foods, that are actually good for us; vegetables, herbs and spices.

Begin by refining your senses of sight and smell. When confronted by any potential input that you’re unsure about, do this:

Pause. Breathe deeply through your nose. Hold without holding your breathe. Feel the feeling. Take appropriate action based on felt sense.

Do you feel open, lighter, happy, receptive? Then it’s a yes. Go ahead and enjoy!

Do you feel a slight sense of revulsion, contraction, disgust? Then it’s safe to assume that if you choose to consume it anyway, you are going against your instincts, and will likely suffer the consequences of the physical and mental symptoms described above.

This discernment ability will come easy to you once you start clearing your body and mind of “debris”. Join the 4-Week Plant-Based Health Support Group, and you will learn to rely on your intuition to guide to to better health outcomes.

You’ve Got to Know Your WHY Before You Know HOW

‘WHY’, is bar-none, the most compelling question that we humans have in our intellectual toolbox. If our WHY is big enough. it can motivate us to do things that, up until the point we uncover it, we could hardly believe that we would be capable of accomplishing it.

Knowing your WHY is THE important first step in figuring out how your goal will be accomplished, and for creating a life you truly enjoy living.

Knowing your WHY also gives you the courage necessary to take the RISKS to move forward and to stay motivated when the going gets tough. Saying YES to an important goal, aimed at changing your lifestyle and the associated health outcomes, is your first risk. It’s a challenge to be sure, but you wouldn’t have said YES, if the part of you that already knows your WHY didn’t believe you could do it.

We are one-up on the animal kingdom, where survival is the main motivator. We humans are designed to thrive. We not only have access to instinct, like animals, we have access to intelligence, which allows us to make choices for how well we want to live this one life we are given.

However, animals have an advantage over us now, in that their survival instincts always help them to know whether or not something is good for them to eat, and not POISON. We have unlearned instinct and learned to tolerate those poisons, turned them into “food”, and suffer the consequences of ill health and early death, even though we “know better”.

Collaborative Wellness now offers programs where you  you will learn the whats and hows for creating Nutritional Success. Change comes easily once you know your WHY.

Crisis is another powerful motivator. So whether you are at a point where a health crisis for you or someone close to you is beckoning you to change, or you want to lose weight for the sake of preserving your health, you can start with these questions right now:

  • Why do I want to be healthy?
  • Why is it critical for me to live differently at this moment?

My WHY is easy to describe. I have been Vegan for almost 5 years. Now my senses are so refined that my instincts have kicked in to let me know immediately whether or not something will support my health. My WHY is about sharing this knowledge and experience with you so you can feel as good as I do. My WHY has led me to further research and also to connecting with other experts and Health Advocates, currently walking the talk, and build a happy, healthy, community of compassionate individuals who want to share this knowledge with their loved ones as well. We will create a “Ripple Effect of Wellbeing”!

Your WHY could also be that you want to be able to serve humanity better, as I do. It could also be for personal reasons. That’s for you to discover. In my experience, once we have fulfilled our personal WHYs, it is natural for us to want to help and serve others.

I’d like you to do this exercise when you have some quiet time for contemplation. Set aside 15 to 20 minutes. Grab a pen and paper. Sit comfortably and think about your WHYs. Here’s a few more prompts.

  • What would be your WHY to improve your diet?
  • What would be your WHY to make changes to a lifelong history of “bad habits” (coping mechanisms/strategies)? Another way to phrase that if you really want to go deep; “Who would I be without my “bad habits”?
  • What would be your WHY to not make changes, but keep at what you learn without wanting to quit?

Have fun with this. It could be quite enlightening.

Even though this site has my name on it, it exists because of Collaboration. I work best with conscious collaborative partnerships.

My life has always been about a drive for purpose and meaning, which has never come easily for me. It took most of all my 60 years on this planet to finally trust the processes of life. By understanding that there is order in the Universe and learning to abide naturally with the governing principles, and aligning my  life’s habits with them,  I was able to create a simple, connected and harmonious existence.
